Business Processes

The marketing and sales business process is dynamic because it evolves as the company grows and changes. Flexibility and new processes emerge as a result of business changes. The process's scope is determined by workgroup processes. Marketing and sales departments provide after-sales support to retain and expand business, as well as build brand loyalty and improve the company's image. Planning and forecasting, customer management, and product and brand management are all aspects of sales

Social Media Information System is an information system that supports the sharing of content among networks of users. There are three primary roles played by three organizational units which are social media providers, users, and communities. Social media providers include sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Pinterest. These platforms enable the creation of social networks among users with common interests. Users include individuals and organizations that use social media sites to build relationships. Organizations can use social media as users, providers, or both. If an organization is large, they can be capable of creating and managing their own internal social media platforms such as blogs, and discussion boards. Social media communities are groups of users coming together around a common interest or goal.

Social media information systems would also include the same five components as a normal information system include, which are hardware, software, data, procedures, and people. The hardware component’s role is to function as the social media provider and as a community. Both users and organizations process social media sites using desktop, laptops, and mobile devices. The social media providers host the social media presence using elastic servers in the cloud. Software users employ browsers and client applications to communicate by sending or receiving content. They can also add and remove connections to communities and other users. The social media providers develop and operate their own custom, proprietary, social networking application software. In addition, they also invest in analytic software to understand how users interact with the site and application software. Data in a social media information system is divided into two categories, content, and connections. Content data is data and responses to data that are contributed to users. Connection data is data about relationships. Procedures for social networking users are informal, evolving, and socially oriented. For organizations it is more formalized and aligned with the organization’s strategy. Organizations will develop procedures for creating content, managing user’s responses, removing outdated or offensive content, and extracting value from content. Another need for procedures is to manage social media risk. The last component, people, users of social media do what they want to do depending on their goals and personalities. People behave in certain ways and may or may not change their behavior. Social media for organizations cannot be as casual. Users who represent the organization on social media need to be trained on both procedures and social networking policy.

Hardware, Software and Data

Ultra Standard Distributors use the latest Dell computers and are constantly upgrading them. The computers are utilized for marketing and sales which use them for data analysis for the dynamic process. Ultra Standard Distributors are in the middle updating the data team’s computers to stronger hardware which will give them better efficiency in analyzing sales trends. The structure process uses the AS/400 for many of their processes such as EDI ordering systems. The EDI process is in place and upgraded through software changes by their corporate office QKD as needed. It is totally customizable yet structured as it supports numerous companies and their EDI customers.

Ultra Standard Distributors use both dual-processors and quad processors. The hardware vendors they use to improve the CPU speed and capabilities are Intel and AMD. The storage capacity for the older computers that are used for printing only has 8 to 32 gigabytes of memory (RAM). The 8 GB of RAM computers have a clock speed of 2400MHz and 3200MHz for the 32 GB computers, which is how many times per second a CPU completes a work cycle. They currently use SSD to back up data and information.
